They’re not useless—they’re proof that what you see isn’t always what’s happening. That disconnect is the signal. If you sit with it, it forces deeper questions: Why does this feel off? What’s being missed? That’s not failure. That’s function.

I'd argue that the more we know about underlying facts, the better equipped we are to understand the phenomenology of life. That, then, may make for better quality of life. And we can still enjoy golden sunlight and amber waves of grain.

Sounds like mindfulness. Sitting with the discomfiture of reality, what comes from the self? What comes from no self? What is the aggregation where those states meet?

I once tried to explain that colour doesn’t actually exist to a client whose cabinets I was staining. She could not grok it.

Having worked in publishing prepress for 30 years, I have a very different take on colour from most people.
